Criteria

The selection committee evaluated initial criteria based on the designer’s profile and the characteristics of the project in each of the established categories.

Indicators

1_Studio Image: Image transmitted and communicated on social media and the web, as well as at events.

2_Formal and aesthetic quality of the work developed.

3_Trajectory: Consolidated track record, recognized by the industry through evaluation of their work, projects, and design services.

4_Emerging professionals positioning themselves in the sector.

5_Innovation: Drive and contribute to innovation through design, with special attention to the integration of design into business strategy as a factor of innovation.

6_Sustainability: Significant contribution to society, people, and the environment in terms of sustainability achieved through the efficient use of design.

7_Awards and accolades received. Recognitions.

8_Publications and Exhibitions: Considering the existence and quality of: – Publications and writings on design. – Curatorship of design exhibitions. – Participation in design exhibitions.

9_Previous international experience, which may address aspects such as: Participation in international projects, programs, and/or agreements; Participation in international networks.

International accreditations and certifications; co-patents and international patents.

10_Potential for internationalization: Possibility of a project with international reach and/or scope.

11_Participation in association networks: Participation in professional associations, foundations, entities, etc., in the design sector or for promoting design at the national level.

These are the key indicators that the selection committee members must evaluate, scoring each section from 1 to 5 points, with 1 being the lowest score, meaning it barely meets the requirements, and 5 the highest score.

However, to adapt the criteria to reality, we propose, within the project, to examine variables related to other aspects that contribute to equity.

These variables would be:

1_Integration of the gender variable, both due to the importance and value of female designers and the subject matter.

2_Integration of the geography variable: This involves designing the project in a way that allows for the promotion of design throughout the country, giving a boost to professionals, companies, and projects that develop their activities far from the main design hubs nationwide and located on the peripheries of the design world.

These two variables were scored as 0 (does not exist or is not of sufficient quality) or 1 (exists and is of sufficient quality).

FSWD is a project we strive to keep up-to-date and, whenever possible, open to new phases to incorporate new studios and professionals.
