On December 4th, at 6:30 pm (Portuguese time) at the Porto Design Biennale, we will present the From Spain With Design project with the roundtable discussion: “Iberian Connections for a Shared Future,” which will bring together designers, researchers, and ideas from both sides of the border.
Participants include:
Lígia Lopes, industrial designer and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto ID+. She created the Canhota project, focused on conscious design, applying methodologies that value people and processes and involve less visible communities. Her activist approach advocates for participatory practices, responsible resource choices, and attention to the product lifecycle, promoting a more humane and transparent design.
Uqui Permui, graphic/UX designer. She will present a project that explores the connection between people and different water sources along the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James). Recovering and enhancing the value of springs, rivers, and washhouses, both for the people who live in these places and for those who visit them.
Xènia Viladàs, economist and MBA, will speak about various social design projects from 2013 to the present: from public sector infrastructure to private initiatives, including large corporations and startups. She will also share a personal conclusion, beyond tactics, tools, and processes, on how to achieve connections between people, purposes, and organizations.
