Descripción: Un espacio físico para un banco digital que ofrece servicios de banca online para criptomonedas. Su director, Wences Casares, encargó al estudio Lagranja el diseño de su Headquarter; la primera sede física de XAPO y la primera rehabilitación de un edificio histórico para Lagranja. XAPO se situa en un antiguo cuartel del ejército Británico en el corazón del centro histórico de Gibraltar, bajo la sombra de su famoso peñón. La parte trasera y el patio se encuentra con los restos de las murallas y las torres de defensa originales, mientras que la fachada principal da a la plaza Grand Casemates, un animado centro social, repleto de bares y restaurantes al aire libre La intención del proyecto era dotar a XAPO -una empresa que opera íntegramente en el ámbito digital- de una sede física. Las nuevas oficinas ocupan dos naves del antiguo complejo militar -de 800 metros cuadrados en total- construidas en piedra caliza local y con los techos sostenidos por vigas de madera originales. Tanto éstas, como las paredes de piedra se limpiaron, restauraron y dejaron en su estado natural, dando al espacio una sensación de antigua cámara acorazada. Combinando la antigua arquitectura y con el diseño minimalista y moderno como punto de partida, Lagranja ha restaurado y reorganizado los espacios. XAPO is located in a former British army barracks in the heart of the historic center of Gibraltar, under the shadow of its famous rock. The rear and courtyard features the remains of the original walls and defense towers, while the main façade overlooks Grand Casemates Square, a lively social centre, packed with open-air bars and restaurants. The intention of the project was to provide XAPO - a company that operates entirely in the digital field - with a physical headquarters. The new offices occupy two warehouses of the old military complex - 800 square meters in total - built in local limestone and with the ceilings supported by original wooden beams. Both these and the stone walls were cleaned, restored and left in their natural state, giving the space a feeling of an old vault. Combining ancient architecture with minimalist and modern design as a starting point, Lagranja has restored and reorganized the spaces.
